LughnaFest
Festival of St. Moling
LughnaFest is a brand-new festival in St. Mullins taking place during Heritage Week 2025. Inspired by the ancient Irish festival of Lughnasadh, it blends history, folklore, and family-friendly fun in the heart of Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands.
Aug 18-24
Rooted in the traditions of harvest and heritage, LughnaFest celebrates the stories, sites, and spirit of St. Mullins with a week-long programme of events for all ages.
Guided walking tours such as Walk with Moling and Millstreams & Moling lead visitors through the footsteps of saints, scholars, and river folk. A dedicated Wild Child Day brings colour and creativity with face painting, Mad Sweeney-themed activities, and playful storytelling.
The St. Mullins Heritage Centre will come to life online with a daily Artifact of the Day feature across social media, offering a glimpse into the area’s rich and varied past. The festival closes with a symbolic river blessing at the quay, led by the Fire Mistress of Uisneach, honouring the sacred ties between community, land, and water.
LughnaFest offers a chance to step into the heritage of St. Mullins, celebrate local tradition, and take part in a growing cultural story.
